Some time in the mid 1990s, I read Coffee Made Her Insane by Peg Meier. The book covers similar material as Wrote, but with more local Minnesota flavor. I am not sure when I realized old news is great content to repurpose on the Web, but it took me until the year 2001 to get around to building this site. In three days, I kludged it together.
About every two weeks, I wade through six months of newspapers on microfilm at my local library or the Minnesota Historical Society. If I find something interesting, I print the article and manually type it in for publication on Wrote. Most of what I publish is from the "newswire." I often see the same article reprinted sometime later in another paper—sometimes, the very same one.
All of the articles and photographs date pre-1923. I do this in accordance with United States copyright. Works first published before January 1, 1923 are in the public domain. Without it, I could not bring you Wrote.
